How to Change the Hyundai Santa Fe “Flip” Key Fob Battery
Total Time: 3 minutes
1. Pop out the valet key, look for line

Pop out the valet key by pressing the button. Check for an indentation line on the side of the fin key.
2. Pry with screwdriver, remove cover by hand

Put a small flathead screwdriver into the indentation line and pry a bit. Set the screwdriver aside and use your fingers to remove the back cover of the fob key.
3. Remove battery cover

The battery cover will come off to reveal the screwed battery cover. Next, use a small screwdriver to screw out the screw carefully.
4. Unscrew battery cover for access

Remove the screw on the battery cover to remove the cover. You will have access to the battery as soon as the cover is off.
5. Pull down battery, pop out dead battery

Now, pull down the battery with a finger and use a flathead screwdriver to pop out the dead battery from the other side.
6. Insert new CR2032 battery, positive side up

Install the new battery with the positive side facing up. Note that the positive side is the side with texts. Push the battery in to ensure a snug fit.
7. Replace battery cover, tighten screws, and return key cover

Replace the battery cover. Tighten the screws back in. Finally, return the key cover after you have replaced the key cover.

How to Replace the Hyundai Santa Fe “Egg-Shaped” Smart Key Fob Battery (2019 and 2020)

What you will need:
• 1x CR2032 battery
• Flat-head screwdriver
Step 1
Turn over the key fob. Push up the lever behind the smart key fob remote and pull out the valet key.
Step 2
With the back of the key facing up, insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot beside the valet keyhole and make a clockwise twist.
Step 3
Gradually work your way down, twisting on the line that separates the key fob remote in halves. Then use your fingers to separate the key into two parts.
Step 4
You’d have access to the old battery as don as you open up the key fob.
Step 5
Carefully push the bottom of the battery, and it’d slide out of the battery “cage” ( a small piece of metal that holds the battery in place).
Step 6
Now install the new battery with the positive side facing up. The positive side is the part with texts. Push it into the metal housing
Step 7
Click the two halves of the fob key back together. Test to see that the light is working. Finally, replace the valet key.

Step 1
Gently pull out the valet key. Check for a little slot beside the valet keyhole. Found it? Now insert a flathead screwdriver into the hole and twist.
Step 2
You will get some leverage and space between the two halves when you twist. Now use your fingers to open up the fob key. Opening up the fob key will give you access to the dead battery.
Step 3
Pry out the old battery with a flathead screwdriver or a toothpick. Put in a new one with the posture side (the side with texts) facing down.
Step 4
Carefully place the two halves of the key back together and snap them into place. Finally, replace the valet key.
Your key will now lock and unlock your car seamlessly!

What you will need:
• 1x CR2032 battery
• Flat-head screwdriver
Step 1
Check for a little slot on top of the key fob. Insert a flathead screwdriver into the slot and gently twist. Make sure you have the backside up. The buttons could fall out if you don’t place the back side up.
Step 2
When you twist, the key fob will come apart in halves to give you access to the low battery. A metal casing secures the battery. Use the same screwdriver to slide the battery out a bit gently. Use your fingers to pull out the battery.
Step 3
Install a new battery by sliding it into the metal casing. Ensure you fix the new battery with the positive side facing up. Note that the positive side is the part with lettering.
Step 4
Replace the buttons if your buttons popped out during the battery changing prices. Then put the circuit board with the battery on top of the half with buttons. Cover up the circuit board with the second half of the key fob. Press round the key fob lightly to ensure a snug fit.
Step 5
Test your battery by pushing a button on the key fob, if the light comes on, you did everything right, and you’re good to go.
