“My car key fob doesn’t work as well as before and I think it needs a new battery but I’m so concerned that I may damage it. I need help learning how to change an Acura TLX key fob battery.“
The first important thing to note is that Acura TLX is the successor to the TL and TSX models. This compact executive car uses two key fobs, the “Smart 4-Button” and “Smart 5-Button” key fobs. Interestingly, both of these only need 1 CR2032 battery to function.
The good news? You can change the old battery yourself at home or anywhere else without a dealership cost; follow this simple guide to learn how to change Acura tlx key fob batteries.

Start by removing the internal key from the device. To do this, hold down the little lever in front of the key fob and pull out the internal key.
2. Pry apart with flat-head screwdriver
Now, at the bottom of the key fob, locate the space between the metal key ring and the edge of the back. Insert your flat-head screwdriver into this area and carefully twist down the sides. The key fob will come apart this way.

You should be looking at the old battery now. The next thing is to use your flathead screwdriver to gently pry the battery out from under the housing. You may need to hold down the battery with your thumb and do a little wiggling.

Take a new CR2032 battery and install it with the positive side facing up. Finally, click the two halves of the key fob back together.
